P.s he got a good call from moritz ffs. Why wouldn’t you value bet the river? The bet size will get called by better, but not often .

@bng357 how is the river bet bad, you pretty much have to value bet a jack here. The only questionable play he made was not either jamming or folding

@bng357 qj shouldnt even be in the hand. if ivey wanted to play j9 with 13bbs he has to jam or fold.

@mrrungood less than 15 bigs is push or fold for defs.

How can you say that? He took time calling a $700k bet on the river and how can you say he would snap call an all in? He was actually surprised to win after winning based on his body language. The question here if you’re Moritz is whether Ivey has the A or not. When Ivey value bet on the river, he is saying that he has the J. Another thing is the body language, you can tell that he doesn’t have the A after betting. With a QJ, only a KJ can beat you so it’s an easy call.

Bomd 18 is so full of shit. The hand when Phil got J & 9 and bet against the big chip leader was clearly a mistake. You will never scare off opponent with that many more chips than you are. Not to mention they were two Aces in the flop.

i think that people will agree with any play phil ivey makes, just because he is phil ivey. it was a bad play

He limped the button with 13 bbs, very big mis step and very surprising he did this. Limping the button 3 handed with 13 bbs is a move you should never do. Push or fold is the only correct play. After limping, he played the rest fine, but should never put himself in that situation. If stacks are deeper maybe the limp is ok but probably not. You need to come in raising and shoving with small stacks, if he shoves with J9 he is going to get QJ to fold and scoop the pot.

If you watched other Phil Ivey’s video or sat down with him at the same table you’ll now how good Phil can read people and put them on the hand they have, or a hand close to it. It’s quite a normal value bet for a good player, but for Phil Ivey this is rare. Most of the time Ivey will now by the river if he’s beat or not. It’s not a bad play at all, but it’s not Ivey-like. Got it mate?
